Solar Pre-Sales Engineer

Based: Roodepoort, Gauteng

Our Pre-Sales Engineer will join the sales team and provide technical support focusing on RFI/RFP/RFQ submissions. You will not have a routine and probably no day will be the same, and you will “like it like that!”. You will explore solutions for customer requirements based on the product portfolio. Be actively involved in all proposal phases, analysing customer requests and their technical feasibility. You will be an avid problem solver and solution finder. Daily interfacing with the engineering, supply chain and project management departments for project-specific inputs. You will have support but will be required to work and complete tasks on your own, by taking accountability and responsibility in a hybrid work environment. What you must have to apply:

  • BEng / BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • 3 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering in an industrialised and/ or commercial environment, preferably Renewable Energy
  • Individual with some pre-sales/ sales experience will be beneficial
  • Basic contract understanding (JBCC, FIDIC etc.) – not a pre-requisite but will be useful
  • Solar PV or BESS experience a plus, but not a pre-requisite
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Pleasant personality, driven individual with a “make-it-happen” work ethic
  • Be able to interact and communicate effectively on all levels
  • South African Citizenship, Clear Criminal Record, Valid Driver’s License *please note that candidates will be subjected to relevant screening processes in line with the functions and risks contained within the position

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Sales Engineer to join the sales team focusing on RFI/RFP/RFQ submissions
  • Site visits and roof inspections to be done (working at heights training will be provided)
  • Understand the tender requirements as input into designs
  • Carefully consider the evaluation criteria and tender response carefully
  • Simulate using PVsyst, Helioscope and Homer software platforms
  • Prepare accurate costing and financial analysis for tender submission
  • Compile tender response and submit to Consulting Engineer or Client on time
  • Follow up on previous tender submissions to understand outcome/result
  • Keep all opportunities, client and account details updated on CRM platform
