Sales Executive

Solareff is seeking a qualified sales representative to help grow our business within the Renewable Sector. Solareff focuses on both outright purchases and PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) opportunities to enhance and stimulate the Renewable Sector.

The sales representative will have a strong understanding of the sales process and excel at generating leads, building relationships, and closing deals. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who has strong negotiating skills and an ability to showcase our offerings in a compelling way. Often tasked with giving presentations and attending networking events and trade shows, the sales representative must be both personable and professional.

Job requires taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

1.Sales

  • Achieve sales targets by generating revenue through effective sales strategies
  • This role will further require experience and focus to obtain new clients within the PPA sector
  • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs
  • Manage the entire sales process from lead generation to closing, including prospecting, sales pitch, client visit, proposal generation and contract negotiations
  • Develop strong business relationships with key industry players such as EPC Competitors, PPA Clients, Channel Partners and other stakeholders to drive business growth
  • Implement sales strategies and initiatives to meet business objectives
  • Work closely with marketing and other departments to generate leads

2. Deal Management

  • Take ownership of and drive the process to guarantee a deal’s success working with stakeholders to clear technical, administrative, regulatory, financial aspects, etc. (especially in the PPA environment)
  • Work closely with the engineering team and other support functions to guarantee client satisfaction and project delivery in a timely manner
  • Actively use and update the company’s CRM tool

3. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales, construction period and after. This could create referral opportunities
  • Work closely with the other departments within Solareff to ensure upsell and cross sell opportunities
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships

4. Reporting

  • Analyse sales metrics and trends to determine the effectiveness of current sales strategies
  • Create and maintain your prospect list (opportunities) to ensure a healthy pipeline
  • Report sales performance and provide regular updates to management
  • Actively use and update the company’s CRM tool (Salesforce) to reflect sales activities
  • Keep track regarding opportunities won / lost and the reasons therefore

5. Market Intelligence

  • Gather market intelligence and stay up-to-date on industry trends and news that could influence the business such as energy policy, regulatory changes, etc
  • Analyse competitors and identify opportunities to differentiate products and services
  • Collect pricing intelligence

6. Nice to have Skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload and juggle multiple tasks from client acquisition to closing
  • Being savvy with creating, selling and clearly communicating techno-commercial proposals to a non- technical client audience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written and spoken English required, Afrikaans or African languages is a plus
  • Customer service skills to listen to the concerns of a customer and be able to address their needs
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people each day, build relationships and network
  • Confidence and strong self-assuredness to succeed in first-contact with customers and making a sale
  • Communication skills, especially persuasion, to clearly convey the benefits of a product to potential customers

7. Required skills and qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably Business Administration, Marketing or an equivalent degree in Engineering coming with experience in sales)
  • Ideally joining with an existing network of potential clients, partners (EPCs/ commission agents) to tap into across the commercial & industrial sector in South Africa
  • Exposure to, or a good understanding of, solar financial (or similar/related) products
  • Financial modelling and commercial contract understanding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Pleasant personality, driven individual with a “make-it-happen” work ethic
  • South African Citizenship, Clear Criminal Record, Valid Driver’s License *please note that candidates will be subjected to relevant screening processes in line with the functions and risks contained within the position

8. Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sales
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth in the renewable energy (PV and BESS), infrastructure, finance, or related industries.
  • Must be very comfortable working in the digital realm, using tools such as CRM, Google, MS Office, Teams/Zoom, LinkedIn etc.
