Draughtsperson (Solar PV)

Based: Roodepoort, Gauteng

We are seeking a Draughtsperson with experience in an industrialised or commercial environment. In this role, your primary function is to create, maintain and edit technical drawings for our projects using a computer-aided design program, like AutoCAD and 3D modelling experience (Inventor, Fusion 360, and Sketch-Up). Apart from that, our Draughtsperson will be required to work and complete tasks on their own in a hybrid work environment, with a high level of accountability and responsibility. Our Draughtsperson will form part of our team where we don’t just work, but play and have fun whenever we can!

What you must have to apply:

• Technical qualification in draughting and technical drawings
• Be proficient in AutoCAD, and have 3D modelling experience (Inventor, Fusion 360, Sketch-Up)
• Work experience in a Solar PV industry will be beneficial
• Electrical or Project Management experience would be an added plus
• Pleasant personality, driven individual with a “make-it-happen” work ethic
• South African Citizenship, Clear Criminal Record, Valid Driver’s License *please note that candidates will be subjected to relevant screening processes in line with the functions and risks contained within the position

If you have any of these, it will make you stand out more:

• AutoCAD Electrical experience
• Single line and connection (wiring) diagram experience
• Have a working knowledge on Quality systems, as well as Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental regulations
• Interpersonal & Client Relations: efficiently liaise, interact and building of lasting relationships with the various stakeholders
• Tenacity to perform under continuous pressure and have a pro-active/preventative mindset
• Basic MS Office packages
• Must be able to apply independent judgment, initiative and attention to detail

Some of what you will be doing:

• Work closely with the engineers and project managers to produce accurate designs in compliance with the client’s needs
• Prioritize activities with task and workflow assignment to ensure contingency
• Use computer-aided design software to create 3D and 2D technical drawings
• Produce full multi-disciplinary drawing packs and registers from design phase to As-Built (Layouts, General Arrangements, Single Line Diagrams, and Connection Diagrams).
• Adjustments on technical drafts based on the recommendations of the project engineers and clients
• Remain up-to-date with requirements and best practice relating to solar PV design and systems
